BHS Names Class of 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Michael Lanteri  Class of 2023 Valedictorian -
Intelligent, self-motivated, and hard working – these are just a few of the words used to describe Michael. From advanced and honors to AP and UConn ECE courses, Michael has challenged himself academically during his high school tenure. He has been named an AP Scholar with Distinction and a CAS Scholar Leader, and has earned the RIT Computing Medal and Excellence in AP Computer Science A award.  Michael achieved High Honors status throughout his four years at Berlin High. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Coding Club, is a house leader in the Upbeat peer leadership program, and serves as a STEM Academy tutor for math and computer science. Michael is co-president of Tech xPerts; a director, producer, and newscaster on the Redcoat Rundown student-led school news broadcast; and is a videographer with the Broadcast Club. Outside of school, Michael is employed as an IT Assistant with the Berlin Public Schools. He plans to study Computer Science at the University of Connecticut / Storrs in the fall.

Laura Munch Class of 2023 Salutatorian
Laura exemplifies teamwork, commitment, and dedication not only to academics but also her extracurricular activities. She has taken advantage of extensive AP and UConn ECE course offerings and has earned numerous academic awards in a variety of courses, High Honors status all four years, and has received the Harvard Book Award. Laura’s extracurricular activities include Upbeat, the National Honor Society where she serves as secretary, and Interact Club. She has been heavily involved with the Berlin High Music & Theatre Arts Department including school musicals, fall plays, and the Madrigals acapella ensemble. She has volunteered her time as a math tutor and has mentored an elementary school student on a weekly basis; she also volunteers with the Bethlehem Fair annually. Laura has been employed as a camp counselor with Berlin Parks & Recreation over the past couple of summers. She plans to study Secondary Education for Chemistry at the University of Connecticut / Storrs after high school.
