Blood Drive

Student Council / Red Cross Blood Drive March 9
Posted on 03/04/2020

The event is taking place on Monday, March 9, in the Jim Day Gymnasium (B-gym). Students will be at the student entrance Wed - Fri of this week for sign ups, or you can see Mrs Mayette. This year's blood drive is specifically in support of Childhood Cancers. Sadly, we have too many of our own Berlin students who have suffered from various diagnoses. These are some facts that will come across in the announcements. If you can give up an hour of your time on Monday, you can make an enormous difference.
  Blood Facts:

  1. Blood products are essential for the treatment of accident victims, surgical and sickle cell disease patients, those receiving cancer treatments, premature babies and others.
  2. Nearly every TWO SECONDS, someone needs a blood transfusion, and every day in the US, approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed
  3. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1.8 million people are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2020. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment.
