Berlin High School Students Join “Best of the Best” for National Association for Music Education’s 2019 All-National Honors Ensemble

The Berlin High School Music & Theatre Arts Department is proud to announce that senior Dawson Trotman (Mixed Choir) and junior Clemens Henning (Concert Band) were selected to participate in the 2019 National Association for Music Education (NAfME) All-National Honors Ensembles.

The NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles are comprised of the nation’s top performing high school musicians. This year’s festival took place in Orlando, Florida in early November. Previously, both Dawson and Clemens represented the BHS Music Department in regional and all-state festivals in Connecticut.

Dawson is an active participant in the school’s choral and band programs, and was Drum Major for the 2018 Redcoat Marching Band season. In addition, he can frequently be found performing in the school’s musicals, plays, and improv team productions.

Clemens also actively participates in many of the music program offerings at Berlin High including the Redcoat Marching Band, in which he plays trombone.  Outside of BHS, Clemens is a flute player in the Greater Hartford Youth Wind Ensemble at the Hartt School of Music, and plays in a chamber ensemble there as well.  Notably, in 2018, Clemens was selected to be principal flute of the Connecticut All State Band.
